Lexi Klinghagen, a 17-year-old resident of Knollwood Heights, collected more than 1,300 shoes for Soles4Souls, a Nashville-based charity. Her shoe drive was part of her senior project at Brashier Middle College, a charter school in Simpsonville.
At the beginning of her journey in December, her story was featured in the Tribune Times and Patch.com. Over the past five months, she held many shoe drives. Lexi also distributed flyers and had help from local retailers that were willing to keep collection tubs.
Since 2005, Soles4Souls has delivered more than 19 pairs of new and gently worn shoes to people in more than 125 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States.
Congratulations to Lexi on a job well done!
